Wash & go's are one of those hairstyles, that’s either a curly, fluffy and bouncy success or a stuck-together undefined mess. When everything aligns and your wash & go routine comes out amazing, you don’t want to go to bed and wake up the next day with nothing left of that amazing wash & go.
We want to give you the tools you need to avoid a bad hair day or maybe even a bad hair week! Here are some tips on how to achieve that bomb wash and go and make it last all week.
1. Preparation is key for a wash and go routine
Start off with freshly washed and detangled hair. Detangling is important as you want to make it easy to distribute the product and help the strands form the curls. If your hair is not detangled, you will end up with lots of knots and tangles. No one wants that, right?
2. Use the right products for a wash and go routine
Use our amazing Honey Rain Juice, followed by our award-winning Quench. Finally, finish off with our Natural & Whipped Beauty Butter which is designed to help you every step of the way.
From detangling to defining your curls and making them clump together to sealing your hair and making it shiny, these products will assist you with this. Unlike most gels that often leave residue and product build-up, our products have 98% natural ingredients and will melt into your hair, leaving it well-nourished and super defined.
3. Use a little bit of heat for a wash and go
Using a hooded dryer or handheld dryer with a diffusing attachment can help you set your hair quicker and avoid having the perimeter of your hair dry out, whilst the centre is still wet for several days. If your hair is thick or low in porosity you need to help it dry completely. A wet spot might cause itching and irritation of the scalp.
4. Keep it stretched
The key to maintaining a wash and go is to keep the curl pattern intact. It also keeps the strands stretched during the night. A wash & go will shrink as it dries, so keeping it stretched during the night, sets you up with nice length for the next day. It also loosens up the curls at just the right amount.
In order to achieve this you can:
- separate your hair in 4 – 5 sections and braid each section. With your hair being completely dry, the braids will not change the curl pattern of your wash and go.
- Put your hair up with a loose elastic band into a pineapple. This will help stretch the roots.
5. Protect your hair for a wash and go routine
Invest in a satin pillowcase or a satin bonnet to protect your hair from being rubbed and tugged at whilst you're asleep.
So, there you have it. From preparation to styling and maintaining your hair, these are all the steps you need to make that amazing wash and go last all week. Our products are specifically designed to cater to your curls, define them and keep them moisturised and sealed. No more bad hair days or short-lived wash & go’s.
